From the artist’s statement by Bil Smith:
Consider the curious and abstract triangulation that occurs when you encounter the ferocious experimentation of song; of language. There isa clear transformation of Utopian...no Dystopian optimism drilled with the radical dislocation of Latin and Provincial phrases…perhaps you may dismiss this performance as some colloquial game.
In this work you will find moveable passages that can reappear in disruptive contexts; the repeated juxtapositions, shifts, vexes, shifts in register, crests, and visual stamps conspire…or aspire…to produce a paradigmatic forum for a textile network of discovery.

Note:
The book block is cut into four sections. There are twelve marker ribbons, one for each section of the performance. A die, used to determine aspects of the performance, is embedded on the book block. The slash through the outer layer of the case is different on each copy of the book.
