Where Dreams Cross

photographer’s monograph
Jane Levy Reed / Rareform Editions

As Jane Reed writes in her essay, Where Dreams Cross, “What most interests me about this symbol is the divergence?—?the crossroads of two (or more) oftentimes dialectical or contradictory directional forces. Coming from a Jewish heritage with a rebellious affinity toward a symbol outside my religious world, I always felt like a renegade Christian. I’m interested in a visual, spatial/temporal moment rendered in the photograph. Within the cross I seek the decussation, the crossroads, the X of resistance, and even the double cross as related to double consciousness.”
