Bruce Edwards: Photos from my Father / Greg Martin: Breathe
exhibition catalog for PhotoCentric
From the introduction:
Bruce Edwards has been mining a trove of photographic evidence left from his parent’s travels, taken by his father of their visits to memorable and not so familiar destinations in Europe and Southeast Asia. Through re-examining those images and their representative place, Edwards carefully takes them down to their skeletal structures through the use of CMYK separations and large-dot halftone screenprinting. Imbuing them with the monumentality of reconstruction, we are reminded of the ephemeral nature of photography.
Similarly, Greg Martin has turned his lens inwardly toward beautiful, elegiac still life details. Using the 19th century process of wet collodion photography, Martin’s flowers, feathers and elegant botanicals ask us to reinvest in the often overlooked.
